Royal Pride Band
Welcome

The Jay High School Royal Pride Band program offers many opportunities to learn and enhance musicianship and mastery of a performing arts skill.  We offer:

Marching Band- This ensemble has a Colorguard, Battery and Wind sections.  This band performs at all Football games, local parades and 2-3 Marching competitions each year.  Occasionally, the band will perform at one of the major theme parks.

Concert Band- This ensemble is composed of wind and percussion players.  Performances include: Christmas Concert, Concert MPA, Spring Concert.

Solo & Ensemble MPA- Individuals and/or groups can select music from the FBA list and compete for medals.  This competition is optional and takes place in February.

Honor Bands- Each student is eligible to audition for any honor bands.  (i.e. Troy University, USA, Auburn University, University of Alabama,  FSU, UF, and any other college as well as FBA All State.

Winterguard- If enough students apply and pass the audition process, we form a Jay Winterguard.  The competition season starts the end of January and ends the first of April.

Awards Banquet- all band students are recognized for personal and group accomplishments with letterman bars, medals, and plaques for the best of each category
Beginning Band- This class teaches students how to play an instrument and read the corresponding music.  It is open to all students, grades 6-8.  This class has no after school rehearsals.

Joining band:

All students are welcome to join band!  Certain criteria must be met in order to gain membership to the Royal Pride Band program.  Musicians must pass a simple test that demonstrated mastery of simple marching, basic music reading skills and playing skills.  Guard members must attend a guard clinic in order to be chosen for membership.
